Farm Tour Kauai

Lydgate Farm may have been the highlight of our trip. Bhakti here, and when I asked Jagger his favorite thing we did in Hawaii, Lydgate topped the list! The tour is rather expensive, but for our nature enthusiast it was completely worth it. I have to say I learned a TON too! Lydgate produces some of the finest chocolate in the world, winning awards at the world chocolate competitions in Paris. Learning about the amazing fruits of the island included an opportunity to taste the raw cacao fruit right off the tree. The fruit tasted sweet and sour, like a sour candy. The seed inside tasted… well…earthy. That seed is fermented and transformed into the amazing chocolate we all know and love. On the tour you see the fruits of the island tasting many varieties and learned the best places to purchase them at a good (not tourism) price. We learned about both indigenous and invasive flora and fauna and at the end of the tour got to do a chocolate tasting to rival any wine tasting you’ve ever experienced. All in all, I would say this was an experience not to be missed!

  1. Hi this is Brighton. I’ll be meeting you in Spain soon! It is cool that you got to go see and taste cacao in Hawaii. We went to a chocolate factory in Germany in December and saw how the beans are collected and dried. It was cool and we got to taste chocolate fresh from the factory machine. It was good! I picked out a hollow dark chocolate owl because mommy doesn’t like milk chocolate and I prefer dark chocolate as well. It will be fun to meet you and play games together. We have more than a dozen tiny board games that we brought on our trip, because if we didn’t have board games I might die of it! I’m excited to meet you and see what kinds of games you like!
