Hi Friends, Jagger here.
On beach day one in Kauai, we saw a ray and (guess what) a humuhumunukunukuapuaa! That’s actually the state fish of Hawaii (pictured below) It’s also a Hawaiian word and it is very long. It means, slanted pig face that squeals. “Squeak, squeak!” (Disclaimer: fish does not actually squeak.)
A few days later, on Anini Beach we were snorkeling and out of the blue Dad sees a turtle and points to try to show us. We couldn’t see it, so dad points up and we surface and Dad says, “Did you see that turtle!?”. Little did we know, we went back under, and we were already surrounded by turtles! Finally, we had seen the Hawaiian sea turtles we’d been seeking. Now we can go home happy… but, who wants to go home after a trip like this!
